This no yeast naan bread recipe is ready in no time and so easy to make. Plus, you probably have all the ingredients on hand at home!
No Yeast Naan Bread Ingredient List
- Flour: white all purpose flour. You can also mix white and whole wheat flour.
- Baking powder: many recipes call for instant yeast, but we’re using baking powder in this recipe. No need to wait for the dough to rise (it’s faster!).
- Salt & sugar: to balance the flavours.
- Yogurt: plain greek yogurt, for a soft and tender texture.
- Olive oil: extra virgin olive oil.
- Water
How to Prepare Naan Bread?
- Combine the dry ingredients to a large bowl: flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon. When the dough starts to form, use your hands and knead the dough for 2-3 minutes to a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the dough into 4 pieces. Roll each piece with a rolling pin (about 5-6 inches circle).
- In a medium heat pan, brush the pan with olive oil. Add naan bread and cook for 2 minutes, until bubbles start to form. Flip and cook for another minute or so. Repeat with each piece of dough. Keep in a tea towel until ready to serve.
Conservation
I recommend eating the naan breads the same day you’re making them. Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature. You can also freeze them for up to 3 months.
