Elevate your cookie game with these brown butter chocolate chip cookies! Crispy on the edges and super tender in the center, these cookies taste amazing – thanks to the nutty flavour from the brown butter.
Ingredients
¾ cup of unsalted butter
1 cup of brown sugar
½ cup of white sugar
2 eggs, room temperature
1 tbsp of vanilla extract
½ tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking soda
1 ¾ cup of white all purpose flour
1 cup of chocolate chips (or chunks) and more to garnish
Sea salt to garnish
Instructions
- First, prepare the brown butter. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Foam will start to form at the top. Whisk constantly and continue to melt the butter until you get a golden butter with tiny bits at the bottom. Remove from heat and transfer to a big bowl. Let it cool down for 15 minutes.
- Add the brown sugar and white sugar to the brown butter and whisk to incorporate. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and whisk again. Add the flour, baking soda and salt. Incorporate the dry ingredients with a spatula. Gently fold the chocolate chips. Cover and refrigerate the dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 350F and place the grill in the middle. With your hands, roll the dough into 16-18 balls and place on a baking pan (or 2 baking pans) leaving about 2 inches between each of them.
- Add a few chocolate chips on top of each cookie ball. Cook for 9-11 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Let it cool down completely and enjoy!
