How to Make Blood Orange Chia Pudding?
This recipe features a chia pudding infused with blood orange juice as well as a homemade blood orange sauce.
You’ll need to prepare this recipe in advance. I recommend doing so the night before. If you want to eat it the same day, please make sure you let it rest for at least 2 hours.
Chia Pudding: 5 minutes to prepare
- First, prepare orange juice. I recommend rolling the oranges on a working surface with the palm of your hand a few times. Cut oranges in half. Using a citrus juicer or your hands, press the juice out of each orange.
- Add the orange juice and all the other ingredients in a bowl: Greek yogurt, almond milk, maple syrup, cardamom powder and chia seeds.
- Mix well with a whip to prevent chia seeds from sticking together.
Easy Blood Orange Sauce
- As for the chia pudding, we’re also using orange juice as the base of the sauce. We then add maple syrup, water and cornstarch.
- There’s 2 ways to thicken the sauce. Either in a microwave or into a small saucepan.
Pro Tips
- Use a whip to mix the chia pudding.
- Make sure cornstarch is well incorporated into the sauce before heating it.
- Don’t overcook the sauce, it will become thin. We just need to let it simmer for a few minutes.
- For best results, use a citrus juicer to get the juice out of blood oranges, like this one on Amazon. If you don’t have one, you can also squeeze orange by gripping tightly.
Can I Use Regular Oranges Instead of Blood?
Yes you can. It will definitely change the taste of the recipe, but if you’re not able to find blood oranges you can use regular oranges instead.
