How to Prepare Homemade Strawberry & Lime Sorbet?
The food processor technique is too good to be true! I wouldn’tt say it’s a recipe but more a technique that you can adapt with your favorite fruits. That being said, the strawberry lime combo is a must try!
- Use frozen fruits. I like to use seasonal fresh fruits and freeze them for a minimum of 4 hours.
- Food processor does all the work! We just combine all the ingredients together until we get a smooth texture. I recommend scraping down the edges of the food processor a few times while blending. If it’s too thick, simply add a few tablespoons of water.
- Eat it right away or freeze for 1-2 hours to get a firmer texture. You can prepare the sorbet just before cooking dinner for a beautiful dessert!
Food Processor or Blender?
You can make sorbet with either a food processor or a blender. If using a blender, make sure to use a high speed blender (like Vitamix). I still prefer to use a food processor over a blender, because it’s easier.
Strawberry & Lime Sorbet Ingredient List
- Strawberries: use fresh ripe strawberries.
- Lime: juice and zest of 1 lime.
- Maple syrup: the sweetener in this recipe.
- Water: depending on texture and consistency.
Fresh Strawberries or Frozen?
Both will work, but I prefer using fresh strawberries and freezing them myself. This way, I can pick ripe strawberries and it will give the sorbet a really nice sweet flavour.
Tips for this Recipe
- Use fresh ripe strawberries.
- To freeze strawberries, place them onto a cooking pan in the freezer for 4 hours. Transfer to an airtight container and use when you’re ready to make the sorbet.
- Be patient with the food processor, it can take 5-10 minutes depending on the equipment you’re using.
