Wholesome Ingredients
- Almond flour: we use it as the base of our bars with coconut oil and maple syrup. Please use almond flour (made with blanched almonds) and not almond meal.
- Coconut oil: it’s the oil we’re using in the different layers of our bars. For the crust, use the homemade caramel.
- Maple syrup: that’s the sweetener we’ll be using for the crust and our homemade caramel sauce.
- Almond butter: use creamy almond butter to make our creamy caramel.
- Vanilla: use vanilla extract.
- Pecans: we roast and chop them.
- Melted chocolate: this will be the final layer of our bars. We’re using semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you can also use dark chocolate instead.
Tips to Perfect This Recipe
- Use a banana bread pan/loaf pan (9 × 5) for these bars and place parchment paper at the bottom.
- Make sure the crust is cooled down completely before adding the caramel sauce.
- Follow the estimated time for the freezer to make sure the bars are completely set.
- Roast the pecans for more flavours, this will make a big difference on the taste. You can cook them at 350 degrees C. for 10 minutes or slowly roast them in a pan.
Keep Them in the Fridge
Bars should be kept covered in the fridge until ready to serve.
Freezer-Friendly
You can easily freeze the bars in a Ziploc bag or airtight container for up to 2 months.
