Wholesome Ingredients

  • Almond flour: we use it as the base of our bars with coconut oil and maple syrup. Please use almond flour (made with blanched almonds) and not almond meal.
  • Coconut oil: it’s the oil we’re using in the different layers of our bars. For the crust, use the homemade caramel.
  • Maple syrup: that’s the sweetener we’ll be using for the crust and our homemade caramel sauce.
  • Almond butter: use creamy almond butter to make our creamy caramel.
  • Vanilla: use vanilla extract.
  • Pecans: we roast and chop them.
  • Melted chocolate: this will be the final layer of our bars. We’re using semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you can also use dark chocolate instead.

Tips to Perfect This Recipe

  • Use a banana bread pan/loaf pan (9 × 5) for these bars and place parchment paper at the bottom.
  • Make sure the crust is cooled down completely before adding the caramel sauce.
  • Follow the estimated time for the freezer to make sure the bars are completely set.
  • Roast the pecans for more flavours, this will make a big difference on the taste. You can cook them at 350 degrees C. for 10 minutes or slowly roast them in a pan.
